Safety warnings are being issued as the severe weather system travels over the United Kingdom, bringing intense precipitation and winds of up to 100 miles per hour in open locations.

A serious weather warning, stating airborne wreckage could threaten lives to safety, has been declared for large parts of Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands.

In the Scottish city, a abandoned property collapsed due to high winds, while wind speeds of 102mph were observed on the isle of Tiree, off Scotland's west coast.

Energy disruptions have been noted in the Highlands and the northern region following travel suspensions and the closing of many schools.

Roughly 50,000 homes have been experiencing outages, according to energy providers.

Every railway route in the region have also closed, while train operators stated that all services out of the central station have been halted until at least 14:00 on Saturday.

Infrastructure workers said they were clearing away downed timber on routes across the region.

In Aberdeenshire, about a dozen passengers were stuck on a locomotive that hit a tree on the track.

The 5:43 PM train from the town to Aberdeen was subject to speed restrictions implemented ahead of the severe weather. No-one was injured.

A number of flights and boat routes have been cancelled, while some road bridges are either closed or have limitations on tall trucks.

A broader caution alert for gusts up to 95 km/h - and 110 km/h in open spots - includes all of the country and reaches northern England and parts of the Welsh region until Saturday night.

• Several boat trips between Cairnryan and Northern Ireland have been called off since midday.
• Forth Road Bridge has shut down to all vehicles, while further crossings may have restrictions on large trucks.

Several maritime routes between Cairnryan, in Dumfries and Galloway, and Northern Ireland were halted from midday.

Commuters are advised to check with boat services for updates, with truck operators encouraged to contact port authorities for additional updates.

Transport officials stated: "We advise people intending to journey on various transport modes to contact their operators to ascertain if their service is affected."

"Drivers will face hazardous travel environments, so it's essential people make arrangements if they have to travel to check whether their route is impacted by the storm."

Energy providers said mobile notifications had been sent to more than 180,000 of their more vulnerable customers, offering assistance and guidance in the event they lose power.

The sports match between the clubs, which had been scheduled to occur on Friday evening, was postponed due to the adverse conditions.

The youth and children's running events in the city on the weekend have been cancelled due to the weather warning.

Organisers said the strong winds and downpours would present a hazard of debris for the activities, which also included a toddler dash.
