Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere Preview
Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (1.15pm) Preview
This Group One for two-year-old colts showcases top French two-year-olds versus an important runner from Aidan O’Brien. Perfect Rayif (Francis-Henri Graffard) and Nighttime (Christopher Head) take on Ballydoyle’s Puerto Rico. Graffard’s runner won a Group Three event during his previous outing, and Christopher Head’s charge, boasting a strong record, also is successful at Group Three level, having won the Prix La Rochette at this same venue back in September. The Irish runner proved busier compared to the others and got off the mark recently on his last outing, winning the Doncaster’s Group Two. Although a big price for a Ballydoyle horse and a favourites failed to show, he stands as a reliable second-favourite according to oddsmakers. The Solario Stakes victor, who took the Solario Stakes in a tight photo, is also merits a spot in the lineup, like Charlie Appleby’s Time To Turn, a Listed winner at Ascot during July.

Preview of Prix Marcel Boussac
Analysis of the 12.40pm Race
After a four-year run from 2018 during which the Boussac winner failed to achieve another victory, the French premier contest for two-year-old fillies has since picked up renewed strength recently with Blue Rose Cen along with the 2023 victor each achieving Group One victories at three and Zarigana, which was edged out by a longshot stablemate a year after being an odds-on favourite, took the French 1,000 Guineas during the spring. The unbeaten Green Spirit, with a clean slate from four races which included the Prix D’Aumale at this track most recently, heads the home challenge in this race and tops the ratings. However Aidan O’Brien’s Diamond Necklace (unbeaten) is undefeated – after two starts – and should provide strong competition. The filly claimed a black-type race on Ireland’s Champions Weekend in September and a win by the stallion St Mark’s Basilica could mark a big moment for the stallion. Between them, the top two according to odds account for nearly 70% of the market, however there exist several other entrants that deserve a look. Ozone (unbeaten) remains unbeaten in two, even if at smaller venues, recently taking a Listed race on the Lyon track. Also, Karl Burke’s The May Hill Stakes winner Aylin won the May Hill in Doncaster in her latest start and the trainer was more in form.
